The Pioneer Center presents performances by local and touring arts organizations in a mainstage auditorium with approximately 1,500 seats. Its programs include performances by the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, A.V.A. Ballet Theatre, and Artown, as well as the annual Broadway Comes to Reno series, presented each year since 1995.

The venue is in downtown Reno, making it an arts stop to include in a one-day Sparks-to-Reno route.

When should you arrive at the Pioneer Center?

When should you arrive at the Pioneer Center?

Plan your arrival around the showtime: the Box Office opens two hours beforehand for ticket sales and will-call pickup, the lobbies open one hour before, and auditorium seating begins about 30 minutes before the performance.

Arrive early for entry screening. Everyone entering is subject to security screening, which may include walk-through metal detectors, security wands, or other search methods. Late-seating rules vary by event.

During a closed-door hold, you may watch the performance on lobby monitors; during an open-door hold, you may enter but must wait at the back until an usher seats you at an appropriate pause.

The Pioneer Center is about a seven-minute drive from Victorian Inn. Downtown parking options include the Washoe County Court House lot, Club Cal-Neva garages, and Regus Building lot. The Court House and Regus lots are free on evenings and weekends; the Club Cal-Neva garage at 101 N. Center Street is free with casino validation.

Accessible parking spaces are on State Street beside the Pioneer Center plaza. Additional spaces are in the Washoe County Restricted Parking lot at Virginia and Court Streets, which is free after 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

If you’re flying into Reno, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport to Sparks route is another part of planning your trip.

Accessibility and event-day checks

Wheelchair-accessible seating is on the main-floor orchestra level, with room for one companion beside each wheelchair space. The balcony is not wheelchair accessible. To purchase wheelchair and companion seating, call the Box Office at (775) 686-6616.

Assistive listening headsets work at any seat, and induction neck loops are available for people with hearing aids or cochlear implants with a telecoil. These devices are free and distributed first come, first served at the Guest Services counter in the upper lobby.

All restrooms are wheelchair accessible and can be reached from the upper lobby, lower lobby, and Exhibition Hall level. An elevator connects the upper and lower lobbies, but not the balcony.

Every person entering an event needs a ticket, regardless of age; lap seating is not permitted. Outside food and beverages, photography and videotaping, smoking and vaping, and bags larger than 12 by 16 inches are prohibited. Before you go, check the official site for current performance details, hours, and venue policies.
